Privacy Policy
This policy covers all of my apps and games on the App Store, plus this website. Each app also has its own page under Apps with the specifics.
The short version: my apps don't collect your data. Nothing you do in them gets sent to me. A few optional features use Apple services, like Game Center or Apple Maps, and those are explained below.
What my apps collect
Nothing. My apps don't:
- ask you to make an account or give me your name or email
- include analytics, crash reporting, or ad code from other companies
- track you across other apps or websites
- send anything to me or to any server I run
Some apps can use things like your location, but only when you use a feature that needs it. iOS asks you first, and whatever the app gets stays on your device.
What's saved on your device
Apps save things like your progress, scores, settings, and anything you log on your device. I never see any of it, and deleting the app deletes it. Some apps also let you export or delete your data from inside the app.
If you back up your phone to iCloud, that data may be included in your backup. That's between you and Apple, and I can't access it.
Game Center
Some apps have leaderboards and achievements through Apple's Game Center. It's optional. If you're signed in, Apple stores your scores and achievements, and other players may see your nickname, avatar, and scores.
The app gets your nickname and an anonymous player ID from Apple so it can show you the leaderboard, but it doesn't send them anywhere. You can sign out or change who sees your profile in Settings > Game Center. Game Center is covered by Apple's Privacy Policy.
Apple Maps
Some apps show maps using Apple Maps. Like any app with an Apple map, Apple receives requests for the map tiles you're looking at. Nothing you've saved in the app is sent with them.
Sharing and exporting
Some apps let you share an image of your progress or export your data to a file. Nothing goes anywhere until you choose where to send or save it.
Tips
Some apps have an optional tip jar. Apple handles the payment, so I never see your name, card, or Apple Account. I only get sales totals from Apple.
Apple and the App Store
Apple handles downloads and updates. If you've chosen to share analytics with developers in your iPhone settings, Apple may send me anonymous stats like crash reports and download numbers. I can't tell who you are from them. See Apple's Privacy Policy for more.
Links to websites
Some apps may have buttons that open websites, like my social media, in Safari. The app doesn't send anything when you tap one, but once you're on that site, its own privacy policy applies.
Kids
My apps don't collect personal information from anyone, and that includes children.
This website
This site has no cookies, analytics, or outside scripts. It's hosted on GitHub Pages, and GitHub may keep basic server logs, like IP addresses, for security. See GitHub's Privacy Statement.
If you email me
I'll have your email address and whatever you write. I only use it to reply to you. I won't share it, and I'll delete it if you ask.
Changes
If this policy changes, I'll post the new version here with a new date. If an app ever starts collecting data, I'll update this page and its App Store privacy label before that update comes out.
